How Often Should You Upgrade Your Website?

February 9, 2018

OMA Comp How Often Should a Business Website Be Upgraded

Has it been over six months since your company last updated its website? You’re not alone if that is the case.

More businesses are getting online and posting content than ever before; however, an increasing number of firms are also leaving their websites untouched for months on end. Leaving a website untouched for extended periods creates an environment of misinformation to potential customers and lower online optimization from search engines.

Why Do I need to Upgrade?

A business might upgrade their website for a variety of reasons. The top reasons include:

  • Device Compatibility
  • User Experience
  • Information availability
  • Organic Optimization

An outdated website can leave visitors with a sour impression and may impact sales conversion potential. Businesses seriously underestimate the impression a poorly maintained website can make on visitors.

Upgrading for Device Compatibility

Consumers are viewing websites across more devices than ever before. Customers have grown to expect that websites will appear and function properly regardless of the device they are using. It’s a good idea to plan for this “device diversity”, and structure your website to look great across all devices.

Capacity and Speed

Increased traffic to a website is demanding when resources are limited. Upgrading your website’s resources to handle an increase in visitors keeps load times quick and site navigation snappy – a recipe for great user experience.

Growing businesses should create a plan for implementing future website upgrades to allocate resources effectively and tie in the appropriate business functions. Creating a plan in the form of a roadmap of next steps also makes it easier to communicate objectives with stakeholders.

April 21, 2014

Eye health is crucial to your general well-being, after all you’ve only one pair of eyes. Given how much time is spent on the electronic screen, it becomes imperative to take steps to regulate time computer time. Eye doctors strongly suggest looking up every 20 minutes for 20 seconds (20/20 is easy to remember) to give your eye muscles time to relax. That’s a major part of taming the problem but there are other things to take into consideration as well. How’s the lighting in the room? Too bright? Adjust lighting so the screen does not emit glare. Use a glare filter is necessary. Even rearranging the table helps. Ideally, the screen should be slightly below eye level, positioned between 18 to 20 inches away from your eyes. Then, work the settings on the computer—adjust brightness, contrast, font size to find the best settings for your eyes.

Being aware of this problem is half the battle won. You can now take steps to improve your work environment or regulate computer time to reduce eyestrain. Visit your eye doctor to discuss computer vision syndrome. Sometimes, you may need glasses or contact lenses to correct computer eye syndrome. Other cases may call for special computer glasses.

Let’s Go Tigers!

April 11, 2014

Detroit-Tigers-Season-Update
“We’ve dealt with a lot of issues, and this another we’ll deal with. We’ve got some guys that will have to step up. … Our goal at this time is to try to handle it internally. At this time of year, you’ve always got your ears out to other places. But we feel comfortable.”

This a quote given by general manager of the Detroit Tigers, Dave Dombrowski.

It was disclosed that Bruce Rondon will be needing ulnar collateral ligament surgery for his elbow. He will be out for the year, but should be good for the 2015 season. Also, Jose Iglesias, the Tiger’s primary shortstop for 2014, was reported to have bilateral tibial stress fractures, and is recovering after being put on the disabled list. Finally, Andy Dirks is recovering from back surgery that he had on March 10th. He was said to have been out of the game for two months, but he should be brought back soon. As of now he is on the 15 days disabled list.

On the flip side, Miguel Cabrera recently had his contract with the Tigers extended, with $248 million guaranteed over the next eight years. His contract was supposed to terminate in 2015, but he revived it, and made what is being called the biggest commitment in baseball history.  The deal was negotiated by sports agents Fern Cuza and Diego Bentz. The Tigers allegedly traded Prince Fielder during the winter of 2013 in order to help pay for Miggy’s contract extension, as well to attempt Max Scherzer’s contract. Scherzer was offered $144 million over a time span of six years, but it turned out unsuccessful.

The Tigers have gone through a few bumps in the road, but have a positive mindset for this season, and are ready to play hard this season. Catch them playing the San Diego Padres tonight at 10:10p.m. on Fox Sports Detroit.
