Consider a “Safety First” Approach
Many people find themselves perusing Wi-Fi on public networks for convenience and cost savings but be aware that these networks are not secure. Even if there is a password, you are allowing an open invitation for others to steal passwords or other personal information. Your data is at risk.
Some TIPS if you must use public networks: turn off Sharing, use HTTPS whenever possible, enable SSL, and run your traffic through a VPN (virtual private network). Never bank or use credit cards when on a public network. When you are not actively using your internet, turn off your Wi-Fi.
