Recalibrating the Battery

January 30, 2010

One should recalibrate the battery once a year to maintain the accuracy of the battery gauge otherwise your notebook may unexpectedly go into standby mode while you’re using it but the battery is not low.

How to recalibrate your battery?

  • First connect your AC power adapter to your computer and then switch it on.
  • Press F2 to open the BIOS setup program at the start up screen.
  • To select the Security menu, press the left arrow key until you open it.
  • Go down to select the Battery Auto-Learning option. (By default, it is disabled)
  • To open a small setting window, press Enter.
  • Enable it by pressing the down arrow key.
  • Select Exit by pressing the left arrow key.
  • The battery recalibrating program begins when you select Exit Saving Changes by pressing the down arrow key.
  • The notebook recharges the battery after your battery has been recalibrated. It may take 12-24 hours to recharge. The battery gauge shows accurate battery charge after the battery has been recharged. In case the battery gauge still does not show accurate readings then contact your Technical support.
  • Important: If the recalibrating process is interrupted one must restart the process all over again so be careful.
  • To exit the recalibration process simply follow the on screen instructions.

Letter from, Suzanne I. Serlin-Resnick

October 20, 2009

Dear Oma Comp:

I extend my appreciation for your outstanding selection of staff, that being the excellence of Derek Paprzycki, Computer Technician.  He is delightful to work with. With immediacy he addresses challenges.

About one and a half months ago, our computer showed, “32 viruses”.  We had it cleaned and checked with another company.  They checked out our lap top as “healthy”.  Unfortunately, neither was in excellent condition.

For 3 weeks friends who are acquainted with computers cleaned and worked on my lap top which had a multitude of problems.  We were concerned it was contaminated with another virus; however, fortunately, being old, it was reflecting its age.

I am completing a book which is backed up by an outside company and my confidence in getting a new computer and transferring information was at the low end of the totem pole—especially if the cause of the problems was a virus!  After no printer and the computer seldom working we decided to transfer the materials to another laptop in excellent condition.

My friend Elsa Silverman suggested and applauded Omacomp Corporation.  The referral was great, thus I called immediately.  My call was returned right away and that very day, Derek came out to my home. It was standard. (If he did not come to my home the problems with the printer could not be resolved as it was the house computer creating the challenge.)  Derik thought this would be an easy transfer until he began.  The old laptop moved at a snails pace and the regular computer was not far off.  There were problems and he addressed each issue with consistent efficiency and patience. When he was ready for the transfer, it took extensive time to complete documents, thus he took the computers home to complete.  The next day he brought both back and addressed the memory and recommended virus protectors.  He was indeed extremely thorough.

What a delight it is to have my new special laptop functioning quick and easy. What a delight it is to know that my book is just fine and protected by Carbonite.  Derek even showed me how to alter material from Microsoft Works to Microsoft Word in the proper format.  He was diligent and patience with a computer novice’s explanations.  I highly recommend Omacomp Corporation and Derek Paprzycki.

Thank you to Omacomp Corporation for their excellent choice of staff.  All my friends and those I meet will hear about this caring company of service.

May all of us know the value of responsible, accountable technical abilities and the dedication to doing great work.

Best Always,

Suzanne I. Serlin-Resnick

I need a website… Where do I begin?

March 4, 2009

Many new clients come to us in a need of a website, but are unfamiliar with what it takes to create a site that satisfies both user and owner. Here is a handy guide of common questions a prospective client can use to help inform the design firm of their goals and expectations.

Purpose of website:
* Promote your Ideas, Hobbies, or Beliefs
* Advertise your company and or products and Services
* Provide Customer Services and Support
* Inform your Audience
* Give, Buy or Sell Information
* Create an ‘Extended Business Card’ for your company
* Provide internal information and services for your company

Research:
Look at what your competitors’ are doing and fine ways to improve on that. Know your audience and target your site toward them, while keeping the door open for new demographics and potential clients. What are your goals and expectations of the web site?

Quality Content: Give them a reason to come and a reason to return to your site.
Content is king and if your users know your content, then why should they return. It is good for you to keep content fresh and up to date. Inform your audience with the latest news and events related to your site or business.
